Psalm 62

MY VERY.jpg

As I was reviewing Psalm 62:1-2 (repeated in 5-6)

Truly my soul finds rest in God,

      my salvation comes from him.

Truly he is my rock and my salvation:

     he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

and 62:7-8

My salvation and my honor depend on God;

     he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

Trust in him at all times, you people;

     pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

These lines from the book "Answered Prayers Love Letters from the Divine" by Julia Cameron stood out as a  perfect meaning to these verses. My thoughts are perfectly echoed and captured in and by these lines, as though God is in front of me, and talking to me. A father-daughter moment...

Here are the lines from the book...

You brood over your problems. You hoard them like treasures. Like a sore tooth, a problem is a secret pleasure. You use your negativity to prove there is no God worth dealing with. Open your heart. Your problems are not the whole world. Bring me your troubles. Let me establish for you a sense of perspective.

There is no problem so great that I cannot lesson it. There is no grief so large that I cannot soften it. I am a limitless power for good, for optimism. Your problems, however big to you, are small to me. I say this not to demean them but to give you an accurate scale.

I am the great helper. It is my pleasure to lessen your pain. It is my nature to comfort you. Let me draw near to you. Let me cradle your bruised heart. I am a well of compassion. My mercy is real and deep. When you bring your problems to me, I bring all wisdom to bear on their solution. I choose the best ways to help you. I hold nothing back. Your happiness matters to me. I did not make you suffer. It is my intention that you find this world rich and enjoyable. I intend it to capture your attention and bring to you joy. Bring your pain to me. Allow me to lift its burden so your heart can rejoin this world.
