My Sovereign Lord is by my side;

my wandering heart has found its guide.

In meadows green and waters wide;

in his sweet rest my soul abides.

He leads me forth into the light,

For his renown I’m purified.

And though I walk through shadowlands,

I shall bid you take my hands.

You are my true and trusted friend;

your voice I know and understand.

Your rod and staff they comfort me,

Your rod and staff they comfort me.

Upon your promise I shall stand.

Upon me honor you bestow

in the face of all my foes.

You shine my face and made it glow;

your servant’s cup overflows.

You are the goodness and the love,

ever with me from above.

I know my way now homeward bound:

in you my Lord I long to be found.
