Seasons of Waiting

I don't know about you, but the word ‘wait’ brings up a lot of emotions for me.  I once heard a pastor named Ryan Paulson describe waiting as “the space between REALITY (where we are at in actuality, in real life) and DESIRE (where we’d love to be).”  This in-between space that we find ourselves in can be frustrating, heartbreaking, lonely, and sometimes hopeless. Psalm 130 is a cry in response to those feelings and also a call to look to God with patience and trust. The challenge is not only to get through the waiting but to flourish in the waiting.  Will you use seasons of waiting to be anxious and bitter, or will you surrender your timeline, your desires, and rest in hope?  I am learning daily what it means to place my hope in Christ and have found that hymns help to reinforce hope in my heart.  My prayer is that this hymn based on Psalm 130 will be a source of hope and comfort for you in those seasons of waiting as it has been for me.
