Psalm 116
Personal Commentary of Worship to a Loving Father: From Psalm 116
Loving Father, bending toward me to hear my cry.
Loving Father, leaning in and turning an ear to my voice.
Loving Father, you hear me when I call out.
Loving Father, in great relief I depend on You.
I declare that the path of life is treacherous, dark, and filled with blind and entangling crevices.
Anguish and distress engulf me like quicksand.
Ah but there’s a light! I see it! You are the Light! You push away the darkness and expose the pitfalls.
You light the path along my stony, crevice-filled road.
No more stumbling and tripping about in lying, accusing affliction.
My vulnerable, ugly thoughts are open and exposed, revealed to You.
Yet, You spill over with compassion, clothed in grace and kindness.
You shroud me in undeserved garments of righteousness.
I rest my weary mind; my fears and thoughts exposed to the light of Your mercy and compassion.
I run to You with arms outstretched.
I am enfolded in Your arms – the arms of a loving Father who bends a listening ear.
What can I offer in return for Your goodness?
I testify to the name of the One who saved me.
I acknowledge His kindness and tender care.
I fulfill my promises of abiding in the One Lord God.
I celebrate the gift of salvation with all who will listen.
I acknowledge the gift of heritage in You loving Father.
I recognize the heritage of people who went before me, who called back confessing Your name.
They pointed me to You…
I too will call back and call out the name of the Lord, my loving Father, all my days.
I too will point to You!
