Your Response Needed -- Jason Brown

Your Response Needed -- Jason Brown

No big post this week.  You heard enough from me on Sunday morning. Now it's a chance to hear from each other.  Here's some questions you could blog on:

  • How have you recently stepped into what faith is inviting you to do -- or what do you sense Faith whispering to you right now?
  • What do you see God doing in the world today -- how is God bringing heaven to earth?
  • When have you listened to the voice of fear and cynicism?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Well, I think I've pretty much always listened to the fear and cynicism voices. But, in honor of my husband, I am focusing more on the faith voice. I am praying that God will give me the opportunity to invite some family members that don't know Him to Alpha with the promise that I'd attend with them. That is very out of comfort zone for me. Thank you for your words on Sunday, Jason. It was fun, and very encouraging!!!!

Sorry JB the story is just that long...

Before I start all glory to God alone Who deserves more than I will ever have to offer him in thanks..

Thursday I left work and went straight home expecting not to leave until the following day for the CHEA conference over the weekend (Christian Home Educators Assoc).

As I got in.. I felt this serious urge to go somewhere. It was weird I remember saying to my wife "Im going to the marketplace".. 10 seconds later "Im going to wal mart"... and finally "Hey hunn I'll be right back Im running out to the 99 cent store for some thumbtacks"... to which my mother in law responded "Bring back a soda".

As I walked around the store I couldnt find what I went for but spent an unusual amount of time in the store. Finally i grabbed the soda and headed out. As I walked back to the truck, i noticed a guy walking my direction. I opened the passenger door, through the soda on the seat and proceeded to walk around the back of the truck... all the while looking away from him as he STARED AT ME.

We met at the back of the truck and he says "Youre a man of God arent you?!!" WHOOOAA!! Im looking down to see if I'm wearing that t-shirt i told yall about in the last blog... wasnt wearing it. So I said "sure?". Long story longer his name is Harold and he's also a believer. The Spirit led him to me... he and his expecting wife Tracy are from Missouri and were in route to Hemet where he has a job lined up when their car busted up on em. They had no place to stay, 30 dollars and hopes of staying in the motel up the street which would cost them 45 a night. Harold never asked anything of me... but he did however Bless The Lord in speech irregardless of his situation which really humbled me. We prayed together and hugged (picture that 2 african american men hugging in the parking lot of the 99 cent store in Lynwood/Compton). After we prayed I opened my Envelope System to the giving envelope and emptied it to him. Of course Harold was ecstatic [spellcheck] and cried while he clung to me like we were father and son.

I am honored to have been a part of what God was and is doing in Harold and Tracy's life. God not only sent me to the store for something I wouldnt find and didnt need, he also kept me in the store juuuuust long enough for Harold to meet me. Talk about soveirgnty.

Anyhow like I said Soli Deo Gloria!!!

Please join me in praying for them.

Hi Jason, great job sunday. My whole life has been based on fear. And in turn many bad decisions. Now that most of my life on earth is behind me I consult with our Father in my decision making. I do know reacting in a kneejerk reaction or my own understand always leads to problems. So with Gods help I try to stay humble. I just want to please God. In order to do this I cannot go by own understanding. If I do restoration is muted. Jeff Nord got it. So do many others. I hope to grow in this matter. And in faith i will be a blessing to people.
