Prayer Ministry

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

1 John 5:14

Wednesday Night Prayer & Worship

Every Wednesday we gather in person and online to pray and worship.
Join us in the Sanctuary from 6-7pm every Wednesday.

Get Involved

Prayer Ministry is a crucial part of our ministry at ERC. We have prayer ministers that consider it a privilege to pray for you. You can receive prayer over the phone or during any of our services on our online church platform at ERCLA.TV. Join us, if you are interested in learning more about what it means to pray, or if you would like to be a part of the prayer team.

Prayer Teams.

For those who feel called to make a difference through prayer, our prayer team prays during Sunday services for the people attending. To learn more about how to serve on the prayer team contact Jody Gras.

Care Teams.

Care teams respond to the prayer requests submitted from each Sunday service.  They pray, write notes of encouragement, get well cards, make phone calls and visits as needed. Contact Mike Kim at mike.kim@erc.la if you’d like to get involved.

Healing Prayer Class.

If you’d like to learn more about the power of the prayer by joining our 10-week Healing Prayer Class. If you're interested and would like to join the next round of classes, contact Jody Gras at jody.gras@erc.la or at (562)

Statement of Belief.

We believe that anointing with oil is a biblically based compliment to healing prayer.

  • “Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.”  James 5:14-16

We believe that the Word of God brings life, light and healing in prayer ministry.

  • We will use the Bible as our primary tool as we minister in prayer.

We believe that forgiveness often goes hand in hand with the healing process.

  • Jesus healing ministry often had a forgiveness component.

We believe that there is sense of mystery involved with the Lord’s healing.

  • We don’t begin to understand why some are healed and some are not.  We will leave this in the hands of God.  We will not try to use our human reasoning to explain this holy mystery.

We believe that each person who asks the Lord for healing will receive some measure of healing.

  • Healing can occur on many different levels, physical, emotional, and spiritual.  Healing may come in a different manner than we expect.  We will choose to let God be God.

  • Healing may be delayed, or begin gradually and may require multiple prayer sessions.

We believe that prayer ministry is best done in community.

  • Jesus modeled ministry done in community, so we will do prayer ministry in teams whenever possible.

We believe that Jesus wants us to pray for healing.

  • Jesus commanded his disciples to teach and heal.

  • When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:1-2

We believe that the power to heal comes from God and God alone.

  • Healing is not about us, it’s about God.

We believe that gifting in prayer ministry comes with great responsibility.

  • God’s spiritual gifts should not be handled lightly.

  • Our commitment is to help people value, steward, and grow their gifting in prayer ministry.

We believe in protection for the most vulnerable.

  • Prayer ministry means entering the “Holy of Holies” in people’s lives. This must be done with the utmost preparation, reverence and care.

We believe that people who pray for healing are acting as conduits of God’s power.

  • Much like an extension cord brings electricity from the outlet to the lamp, it has no power of its own but when connected to the power source it brings light.

We believe that we must remain spiritually dependent.

  • Apart from God, we are helpless to pray. Our first priority is to trust the Holy Spirit to direct us in our prayers.  To hear His voice, we must remain in an intimate relationship with our Lord.

  • It is better to be silent than to speak out of our own strength.

We believe that Jesus model of healing prayer includes “laying on of hands.”

  • “The people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.”  Luke 4:40
