Short Term Mission Trips are a great opportunity for students to grow in their faith while tangibly fulfilling the needs of others. Doing ministry in a foreign context allows for tremendous growth in our students, which is why we are excited to provide the following Mission Experiences:
Mexico MissionEach spring break, students and staff head down to Tijuana, Mexico to serve alongside a local church or ministry. While there, they spend their entire week cleaning, building, painting, and loving the people around them. This is one of the most exciting and popular trips we take each year. What a joy for students to be able to live out their Christian faith in a real life context. (Although the 2009 Mexico Mission was cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, we have every hope to continue this trip in future years. Be on the lookout in 2010)
Compton Initiative
The Compton Initiative is at the heart of the Mission of Emmanuel Church. High School students can play a huge role in this mission by attending Compton Clean Up Days. These days are scheduled 5 times a year. Over 1000 people gather in the City of Compton to bless our neighbors by cleaning and painting various homes, schools, and churches. Summer Mission Experience
During various summers, our students have the opportunity to go on a mission trip designed to allow them to expand their horizons and be impacted by serving in a new and different culture and context. In 2006, students traveled to Ghana, Africa to serve at an orphanage. We hope to give each of our students at least one opportunity to participate in a Summer Mission Experience during their four years in high school.
