Living in 3D with "G"

Living in 3D with "G"

On Monday morning, I sent an e-mail to "G".  I've gotten to know G because I've ordered coffee from him at Starbucks.  G is in the midst of some pretty significant life change.  I asked if he would want to have lunch so that I could hear more of his story.  He e-mailed back and said, "Sounds great."  So, my hope is that we'll have lunch in the next week or two.

I really have no idea where this is headed, but G's name came to mind when Bill and Larry asked us to pray on Sunday.  I'm trusting that the Spirit dropped the name on me for a reason.  I'm going to do my best to pray for him and his family until Easter.  I'd appreciate your prayers as well.  I really do want G to know Jesus at a deep level.

Well, who are you praying for? Who are you walking across the room to meet?

How many times have you walked by someone with a sign in front of a store asking for money? I think I feel pretty uncomfortable knowing pretty much where the money is going and well you know I am true faced. I usually ask.
I really don't mind handing out a buck or two. But, I always ask if I can pray for them. I have not yet had anyone deny prayer. I just think people get so far messed up they just can't seem to get the words out. (GOD)Help me!
I met this this lady today she looked pretty bad. Her name was Veronica. I saw her sitting there on the dirty ground in front of the post office and at least 25 people passed her. So, Levi and I did our business inside and then came out and sat with her. She was actually a very nice lady who just became homeless and was hungry. Levi and I asked if we could pray for her and we layed hands on her and just let her know she was loved. I really did not have any money but maybe 3 quarters , 2 dimes, & a few pinnies. I looked at Levi and told him sometimes it's not really all about the money. It's getting 3-d in someone face. We were blessed!

On the way to soccer practice tonight, Caris and I were stopped at a light and there was a couple on the corner cussing each other out and acting rudely. It seemed like a teachable moment so I asked Caris if she noticed that couple saying inappropriate things. She said she did. I said, "Jesus came for them." Without missing a beat she said, "That's because Jesus didn't come for the righteous but for sinners." I was surprised she'd picked up that verse somewhere - but I couldn't help but think it was a teachable moment - and I was the one learning! "Sinners like us and like them, eh?" "Yep," she said. And off we drove.

Wow Tonya is it really that easy? Just take time out of our "busy" days to talk to somenone even if it is to just tell them they are loved. God bless you for living out your faith and modeling for your son and me what it looks like to follow Jesus.
Love you Susan

Bill, your blog reminds me of just how blessed my life has been, because I was raised in a household like your children are being raised. To hear scriptural truths spoken of and lived out at home as well as in church make for a very deep knowledge and subsequent understanding now - and even more so later on in life - of the saving and changing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. What a wonderful opportunity our young families (parents) have to instill into their children's hearts and lives this knowledge that will give them a 'real' choice when they will be challenged later on in life to make these truths their own. May God bless all of our parents to recognize the joy, privilege and responsibility to do what you and Katy are doing in bringing up your young ones to know and love Christ and all that He stands for.

Thanks for the words above everyone. In my heart, I want to participate with God in what He is doing more than anything else. At the same time, I feel my flesh rise up against what the Spirit wants to do in and through me. I also somehow turn the invitation of God -- "Jason, will you join me in what I'm doing in the world?" -- into law -- "Jason, do this or else."

As it turns out, lunch with "G" wasn't in the cards this week. He e-mailed and said he wants to go to lunch, but when I got back to him with a date and time, he didn't get back to me. Please pray for something to work out next week.
