Have you ever gotten a really great gift? - Bill White

In case you were wondering, Jason and Larry are on vacation this week with their families.  So you're left with me...

I just got a really great gift in the mail - four Laker's tickets to the game this Friday.  And not just any Laker tickets.  As I looked closely at them, I saw that they were centercourt, 6 rows up behind the bench.  I couldn't help but look up the price - $700 for one ticket.  Sheesh!  I don't know about you, but I don't get a lot of $2800 gifts in the mail.

So I did something right and actually prayed about who I should take with me.  Isn't that what gifts are all about - to be shared?  I really wanted to invite my friend, Mr. Laker himself, Chris Cano.  But three other names kept coming to mind (sorry Cano).  I kept thinking, I don't even know if these guys like the Lakers.  But these are guys that are in my Life Group... and I knew that investing in people can't just happen in a Bible study.  It's life on life.  And it means the investment of whatever resources I happen to have.

Ken's sermon cut deep on Sunday - looking at my heart and how I like to keep my money to myself.  And yet, like having 4 Lakers tickets, all of our resources are meant to be shared.  It's not like I could even use all 4 tickets myself anyway!

And as it turns out, the guy who sent me the Lakers tickets had them retracted (he thinks the commissioner of the NBA wanted to sit there!) so he had to give me some other seats for the game - probably up in the rafters.  But that's okay, right?  Because all I have to do is share whatever resources I have - not just the expensive ones!

Before my dad passed away he paid off my Visa. That was a huge gift for me and I made a promise to him that I would not ever use that card unless I could pay the balance the following month. My dad passed away on Veteran's Day and i've kept the promise I made.

I had never mentioned my Visa or the balance to my dad. I just kept praying that there would be a venue for it to be paid off. I felt I was dancing as fast as I could paying on it and getting nowhere.

A wonderful blessing and i'm so thankful.
