Glimpse of Diversified Communion

Glimpse of Diversified Communion

Wow! what a anointed-filled weekend! It was a celebration of "Super Salsa Sunday"! Our Latino brothers and sister shared their music, culture, and food with the church body in a very gifted and generous manner. At the end of the day as I walked back to my car I verbally gave thanks to God for what transpired during the day. Super Salsa Sunday celebration is like a magnet that draws us together in diversity and unity. To behold various races, cultures, languages, generations, backgrounds to come together under one roof and worship the one true God is nothing short of a miracle that cannot be explained by any natural means. This is a work of the Holy Spirit. And it is only because of His work in us and through us that affords us the privilege to enjoy the true intent of being a multicultural church as biblically defined (see Acts 2:1-12).

The scripture text was centered on Communion. How Jesus lead as example by serving though He was Master. I witnessed this same devoted act on several occasions of people from all over our church pitching in to serve to honor our Spanish Ministries. The day was won because the gifts of helps (serving) just kept popping up all over the place. And we were afforded the opportunity to serve in unity and harmony. It was a joy (gozo in spanish) to be part of such an extraordinary diverse body that came together to serve and celebrate.

The scripture - Psalms 133 states "How good and how pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!" We are afforded a glimpse of the prophetic scripture in our midst today. Prophetic because our church diverseness gives us a glimpse of what heaven is like. Jesus was right on when he stated "thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". Let's do it again next year! Holler back with your thoughts about the day if you wish.

I thank our Lord Jesus Christ - with you, Pastor Larry - for the demonstrated love that you saw as so many were so willing to serve each other. We need to remember that this is what pleases our Savior probably the most about those that belong to Him. What peace and harmony would exist among us if we could just remember to do this when someone iritates us or disagrees with us! Loving (and forgiving) one another is that sure sign that Jesus talked about when He said, "They would know that you are my disciples by the way you love one another." We really are living epistles, aren't we? May our love for our Lord and Savior grow so great that we, indeed, can be true witnesses in all circumstances and situations.
