FAQ

I don’t go to Emmanuel – will I feel out of place?
You are completely welcome to attend Financial Peace University!  There will be many people attending who do not go to Emmanuel.  You will not be pressured to come to church or asked to give money.  You will get to come and learn just like everyone else!

I'm going to miss a couple of weeks due to other commitments.  Should I still come?
YES!  As part of the FPU package you’ll get audio CDs of all the messages, so you can listen to them on vacation. Plus, if you miss a meeting you can catch Dave later in the week at another showing that fits your schedule.

What's the childcare like and where do I bring my kids?
If you desire childcare, you will need to pre-register your children prior to the start of FPU (e-mail Linda Hill at linda.hill@erc.la to pre-register your children). Our screened, trained and loving childcare staff will be there with smiles to bless your children 6wks old – 6th grade.

What does the $100 cover?
First off, $100 might seem like a lot of money – but the standard price for attending this class is $160!  We received a special offer and are passing the savings on to you.  Emmanuel is making $0 on this.  We believe in the program and are convinced it is worth it to help our community.  Specifically, the $100 gets you Dave’s book, the course outline manual, the audio CDs of each session, online materials, and some helpful financial tools that will be explained in the course – plus it covers the cost of the teaching materials. (P.S., the average household who puts Dave's principles into practice dumps $5300 in debt and saves $2700 in the 90 days of the program.)

How much will I have to expose of my personal finances to my group?
You only need to share what you are comfortable sharing.  As the course progresses, you'll understand that you're in a similar position to others in the group.  Your group will become a supportive environment to ask questions, share struggles and grow in your finances.

Does Dave teach the bible?
Dave is a Christian.  He teaches Biblical principles and sometimes refers to the Bible.  But he’s not a preacher and he doesn’t give sermons.  He teaches about financial stewardship.

I'm doing well with finances.  Should I still come?
YES! First, there is still more to learn.  Second, other people in your group need the encouragement and stories you bring.  Please, please be a part of this!

How long is each session and what happens there?
Each session lasts two hours.  The first hour, everyone is together listening to Dave’s teaching on DVD.  The second hour, we break into our groups to discuss and process what we’re learning.  The key, of course, is the group time – because that’s when we really figure out how to put into practice what we’re learning, and groups are where we encourage each other each week towards financial victories.
